Jewelry of Punjab

A silver chain of five strands (maulsarihar or panchlaachandanhar), widely worn by Hindu and Muslim women in Punjab and Uttar Pradesh, is a well-known item of jewelry. Flexible silver bracelets of many units called lahsankepahunchian --- which represent a clove of garlic (lahsan) --- are very popular here; they are mounted on black cotton cord and closed with an end loop and a ball, and the bracelet is worn in pairs, one on each wrist.
